One of the most important things when you have a baby is a well packed and stocked diaper bag. I have been caught in the past without all the much needed diaper bag essentials and things went very, very wrong. Specifically that time when I didn’t have an extra change of clothes while out to dinner with my family and ended up having to bring Chloe home in her car seat in only a diaper. Ever since then, I check and double check my diaper bag to make sure I have all the essentials.
My spacious diaper bag is from Freshly Picked. You can get 25% off a full size diaper bag or weekender HERE and use code FPXDANIELLE25.
Diaper Bag Essentials
Diapers; obviously
The number one diaper bag essentials is diapers, obviously. Make sure to pack more than you think you will need because these little babies are unpredictable. I provide a full review of one of my favorite brand HERE.
Wipes
Wipes are so handy for just about everything and I always make sure to have a large pack in our diaper bag (not the small travel size ones).
Change of Clothes
I put one or two extra sleepers or change of clothes in a ziplock bag inside the diaper bag. This gives me a place to put the soiled one without getting the inside of my bag dirty.
Changing Pad
The Freshly Picked diaper bag comes with a changing pad, a lot of them do but if not grab one HERE to throw in your diaper bag to use while on the go.
Extra Pacifier
How many times does has your child spit out their pacifier, knocked it off the table or have it simply disappear into thin air? Same. I like to have an extra one on hand for those times when you are desperately searching for one.
Tissues
Keep a small pack just in case. Also helpful for those older kids and their runny noses, especially this time of year.
Bottles
I am exclusively pumping so I always have a full bottle and then extra on the side when we are out and about. If you are formula feeding, keeping an extra bottle on hand is always a good idea. In the Freshly Picked bag, there is an inside pocket that is insulated so you can put a small ice pack in as well if needed.
Flannel Blankets
I use the large flannel blankets as burp clothes. I aways have at least one if not two on hand in the diaper bag because my little one can be a spitter at times.
Hand Sanitizer & Lotion
A small, travel size works great in one of the side pockets. My hands get sop dry this time of year and with the constant washing, it makes them even drier. I keep lotion in my bag to help combat that.
Sanitizing Wipes
I like to throw these in my diaper bag to sanitize areas that I may end up having to change my baby on or the handles of things like shopping carts for my other kids. I like THESE ONES.
