I have always been an avid fan of the Fitbit trackers. I even had the old school clip-on Fitbit that attached to your pocket. You remember which one I am talking about; the clip-on tracker that got thrown in the wash more often then not but some how always made it out to track another day. I have since upgraded and have been through a Fitbit charge, charge HR, and charge 2. To say I am a loyal Fitbit user is putting it mildly. So when I was offered to try out the brand new Fitbit Charge 3 and share my thoughts with you all, I instantly jumped at the chance.
I was given this product for free in exchange for my honest review. All opinions expressed are my own. You can find my full disclosure HERE. So after using the FitBit Charge 3 for a good two weeks here are my thoughts.
First and foremost the packaging of the new Charge 3 is basically the same. One big change though is that you no longer have to worry about purchasing a Fitbit based on the size of your wrist. The new Charge 3 has both sizes in the same box. So if you have a large wrist, fear not, you can easily swap out the band to the larger size that is provided in the package.
This is great for those looking to purchase this as a gift for someone. You no longer have to worry if you gift is going to fit them properly because both sizes are right in the box! it is also much simpler to switch out the bands with the new design to give your Fitbit a whole new look.
One thing I noticed right away was how the charger fits together smoother with the device better then the previous charger. The cord is also longer which makes charging the new Fitbit easier then ever. Plus the battery life can last for 7 days when fully charged! One more feature that I love about this new Charge 3 is that it is swim proof.
Another major difference that I noticed right away was that the Charge 3 is so much lighter then the Charge 2. I can barely feel this on my wrist and sometimes have to even check to make sure that it is still on. This is especially important to me because I like wearing my tracker to bed to chart my sleep and don’t appreciate a heavy item on my wrist.
Another thing I love about the new Charge 3 is the touch screen. It’s easier then ever to scroll through the menu with the touch screen. Swipe left to see the menu items and swipe up to see your daily stats. Hit the left side of the tracker to go back. It’s so simple to use and your not constantly pushing the button on the side like that with the Charge 2.
It is also easier to read text messages on the Charge 3 since they are displayed on the screen. Another feature is that it displays your missed calls as well as voice mails.
While I have absolutely fallen in love with the Charge 3, there are some things that could be improved.
I hate not having the date on the home screen. I know many people don’t care about seeing the date but that was something I liked about the Charge 2. As a nurse who works long shifts my days tend to blur together so being able to look down at my wrist to remind myself what day it is was easy. Maybe there is a way to get the date on the home screen but I have yet to find it in the options for the clock face. If any of you know how to, tell me your secret ways!
With the charge 2 I was able to simply turn my wrist towards me and the screen would light up. To get the screen to light up now I have to tap the side of the tracker. Again, there may be a way for this to happen that I haven’t figured out yet so let me know if there is!
I’m still learning all that this tracker has to offer but overall, I feel that the new Charge 3 is a great upgrade from the Charge 2 and offers many more advanced features then that of the Charge 2. You are getting a stylish fitness tracker that tracks steps, heart rate, sleep, calories burned and more for a great price.
You can find all the information you need to know on the new Charge 3 at fitbit.com.
Oh, thank you so much for sharing your review! I have a Fitbit Flex 2 currently, but I would be so interested in looking at the Charge – and I am now even more keen 🙂 Sounds so good!
I love this new light-weight design and lower profile. I love my smartwatch, but I don’t like the bulk. This looks great!
I’m all about anything that encourages us to get out and get moving, and if it’s a tiny little device on our wrist that does it– I’m all in. My fitbit is a much older version that was gifted to me by my mom-in-love, but it still works fine and helps me to stay accountable. Now, if I can only get a device for the other wrist that takes away my appetite– I’d be all set, LOL!
I’ve been seeing quite a few people using fitbits. At first I didn’t understand what the hype was about but now I get it. I’m pretty busy myself and am trying to chart my movements so I think this will come in handy.
I have always wanted a Fitbit trackers to measure my steps and my activities level since I into fitness. Glad to read about your review as I have indept understand how this gadget is like.
TBH, The Fitbit Charge 3 doesn’t bring any groundbreaking features that we haven’t seen on a fitness tracker or smartwatch before, but it’s a more refined package, cheaper than the last one and looks to be a solid activity band.
This looks like something that I would lovr and I can use regularly. I’ll have to check this out.
I kind of miss my old fitbit. Cool to see they’re still coming out with new products!
I love my fitbit! It’s probably the best investment when it comes to fitness and gift giving..it’s really such a great product for everyone to have.
I had the Fitbit Charge 2 but when it died, I got the Samsung Gear Fit 2. The Charge 3 sounds nice, maybe if my Samsung dies, I’ll get that one!
I would love one of these. i still love my Charge 2 though!
I am not yet obsessed with these tracker watches. But my boyfriend loves his. He is so into it and he sets all these goals for the day. He might love this new style!
I’m a tad, by tad I mean really, out if shape. I’ve been starting to exercise and have been curious about fitbits and other such items. Thanks for the info. I think I’m going to get one.
It has been a while since I’ve had a Fitbit, but I have been toying with the idea of getting another one. They’re definitely helpful!

This was a great review! I have the Charge HR and been looking to switch – the Charge 3 wasn’t on my list initially but now i’m considering it.
I would love to get a FitBit so I may have to get this for myself now haha
I have always wanted to have a FitBit but I have never gotten one for myself. I think it is time to. My birthday is coming up so this is going to be my gift to myself. Thanks for the review.
I was wondering if the Fitbit charger 3 would be the tracker I need, I never owned a tracker before, but as I don’t know the Charger 2 I still have so many questions! Can this also track your sleep? and what else exactly when you say “more”?
I had a Fitbit at one time and loved it! This looks like a great one too! I would love to have this.
