We are now just getting back from our trip To Disney World Orlando, Florida. I have been to Disney with kids before and the chaos was real. this time was no exception. Whoever said that going to Disney in February was better because of less crowds was lying, it was more packed then I have ever seen it. Whether this was due to more people traveling or the fact that it was school vacation week, I’m not sure. With that being said, I picked up some secrets to make your visit easier when and if you decide to take your family to Disney World.
Secrets to Visiting Disney World Orlando with Kids
Skip the Park Hopper Pass
Unless you have plans to spend the entire day at multiple different parks, the Park Hopper pass is just not worth it. First, it is more expensive. Second, if you leave the park you are able to go back later on in the evening if you want. Plus, there’s the transportation to factor in if you don’t plan to stay at a Disney property. For my family, we would spend the majority of the day at the park and when we left, there was no getting the kids to go back. They mostly wanted to go swimming for hours on end and were too exhausted to venture back out from the hotel.
Mark your stroller
If you have ever tried to find your stroller in the vast stroller parking tat the parks then you know what I’m talking about. It also doesn’t help that the workers move the strollers often as strollers come and go so make sure to make it easier on yourself by tying something bright or noticeable around the handle. Also bring your own stroller if you can, the ones available to rent at the park are pricey and don’t look comfortable for your little ones.
And by early, I mean really early. In order to get to the Magic Kingdom and Epcot you need to hope on one of the transportation options from the parking lot. This can either be the mono rail or the ferry boat, both quickly become crowded on busy days. While it doesn’t take long to get to the park, the lines to get in can get long quickly so try to get there as early as possible.
Download the App
Use the app to see park maps as well as wait times at rides. You can also use the app to order ahead at on site restaurants if you plan to eat at the park which brings me to my next tip:
If you are going to eat at the park, you should order your meal ahead of time through the app. This will save you time and will help you avoid long lines at the restaurants.
Genie + is a must
This was a great tip that a sweet friend on Instagram let me in on. I had no idea what this was until I actually looked into. My tip: make sure that you get on as early as possible to schedule a ride for that day. You can only schedule one ride at a time and you can’t schedule another one until you have used the one already booked. The most popular rides fill up quickly so pay attention. It does cost extra but it was worth it to me and my family.
Go in the Off Season
Avoid school vacation weeks at all costs. We went during school vacation week and the park was packed. I have not found the secret time frame to go just yet but if I ever do, I will absolutely share! It does seem that now more people are getting out and traveling since restrictions have been easing around the world, so if you go anytime soon, prepare for there to be a lot of people.
Parking will cost you
Parking will cost you $25-$50 per car depending on how close you want to be to the park entrance. So if you are staying on a Disney resort then utilize their transportation to and from the park. If not, try and find another way there or else you will handing over that parking fee.
Many hotels in the Disney area do offer shuttles. So if you are staying off site, then at least inquire. Also make sure to ask what times and how often the shuttles run because that will dictate your day.
i’m sure I could compile so many more secrets to visiting Disney World Orlando with kids but at least these ones will get you started in planning or thinking about planning your Disney trip. What other secrets do you have for visiting Disney World? Share them in the comments!
