Being a mom at times can be overwhelming. Whether you are a working mother, stay at home mother or mom to be; the constant pull in different directions, sensory overload and being over touched can cause mom burnout. I know that lately I have been feeling it as well with the recent Christmas and winter break, random quarantines from daycare and feeling like all my senses are on overload all day long. Taking time to yourself when you are a busy mom is essential to making sure you recharge and reset. Best way to this? Learn to fit in some self care ideas for moms at random times throughout the day or week.
Focusing on self care has changed my life as a mom and it can change yours as well. I compiled a list of self care ideas for the busy mom to get you started today.
Self Care Ideas for Moms
Head to the gym
When mom life really starts to get to me I head to the gym for a fitness class or to destress with the weight machines. Plus, I always find that working out actually increases my energy especially during the times that I really need it.
Wake up early

Grocery shop alone
Ok, this may not be real self care but there is something to be said about grocery shopping alone.
Go for a walk
Getting out into the fresh air by yourself or with your pet is an easy to accomplish self care idea for the busy mom.
Grab a Coffee
Grab coffee alone or with some friends.
Read a Book
Curl up with a good book, some wine or tea and escape into the pages for a little bit.
One great way to unwind and calm your senses is through yoga. There are so many great videos on YouTube to try out so need to buy any expensive programs or items.
Take a solo overnight or weekend trip by yourself. Or plan a girl’s weekend to get away and have some fun by yourself without the kids or partner. That is the ultimate self care idea
Take a Baths for moms.
Grab some wines and some candles and take a long, hot bubble bath.
Get a Manicure/Pedicure
This is one of the best forms of self care ideas for the busy mom in my opinion.
Unplug From Social Media
Social media has a way to make us feel incredibly stressed about our own lives. Somedays we all need to just unplug from social media and our phones. Have a day that you just turn it all off. I promise you will feel better afterwards.
Head to the Beach
Take a couple hours to head to the beach to take a walk or just sit. It always has a calming effect on me and helps ease the burdens of being a busy mom.
Skip actually cooking dinner for the family and order takeout. No preparing or cleanup. It’s a win-win!
