I have a love, hate relationship with baby showers. I love celebrating the new parents to be but I generally dislike the games and decorations that go along with baby showers. If you have ever wondered about unique baby shower ideas that don’t suck for the mama to be or her guests; I have compiled a list for you. I will also preface this by saying that there is nothing wrong with traditional. If that is what you like then go for it!

Mimosa or Wine Bar
Yes this is the first on my list. In order to make a baby shower more enjoyable, you should always offer up alcohol. Just because the mom to be isn’t able to drink doesn’t mean her guests can’t. My friends made this delicious mimosa bar at my baby shower (which sadly I was unable to participate in).
Diaper Raffle
Another unique baby shower idea is to host a diaper raffle. This is something that you can put on the baby shower invitation. For every package of diapers you bring, you get a raffle ticket. I went to a baby shower some years ago that did this and the family got a ton of diapers! They even gave away a massage for the raffle (sadly, I didn’t win).
Books as Cards
I love cards. I love getting them and giving them but there really is nothing to do with them afterwards. I love the idea of giving books as a card especially for a baby gift. Recently, my friend had asked for books for her soon to be baby. My son ended up picking out the book we gave from his own collection because it was his favorite when he was little. I wrote a note on the inside cover thereby turning the book into the card!
This is one unique baby shower idea that you can actually add to the invite itself. Wondering what to put on the baby shower invitation? Just add a small note at the bottom stating in lieu of cards please bring a new or used baby book.
Bib Decorating
At my baby shower for Avery, my wonderful friends had baby onesie and bib decorating as part of the activities. If you do decide to do onesie decorating, make sure that you get varying sizes. It was fun to see all the designs that family and friends drew on the clothes when it was time to dress the baby.
Amazon has great deals on bib packs and markers that write on fabric!

Diaper Notes
Having a pack of diapers that guests can write notes on for the parents to read during the millionth diaper change of the day is one way to get the new parents to laugh. Especially when the diaper you grab in the middle of the night says “it’s dad’s turn.”
Onesies as Decorations
There are so many nice ways to decorate for a baby shower that don’t include the tacky diaper pins (because honestly who uses those anymore) or the weird little doll baby bottles. Hang up some nice onesies for the mama to be to take home at the end of the night! A also like the tissue paper poms which I have linked Fonder Mols 12pcs Mixed Sizes 8” 10” 12” 14” Premium Tissue Paper Pom-poms Flower Ball Wedding Party Outdoor Decoration – Coral, Mint Green & White” target=”_blank” rel=”noopener noreferrer”>HERE.
Favors that Favor the Mom to Be
Sure giving out little chocolates or mints is cute but getting favors to give out that really compliment the mom to be is fun! My friend is really into gardening and for her favor at her shower were little succulents. How cute is that? If the mom to be is into candles; giving out little votive candles or if she is into wine; give out little bottles of wine. There are so many ways to make baby shower favors more personable and unique.
