I love February. It’s my birthday month for one (which now that I am getting older is something I look forward to less and less), it’s also the month where we celebrate love (Valentine’s Day) and this year it is one month before I will be having this baby. It is also one month closer to Spring which let’s face it, is way better then winter in my opinion. This month I will turn 33, celebrate my baby shower for this little girl and try and spend some one on one time with my son who will soon be losing his “only child” title. While he technically lost that title with the introduction of my boyfriend and his daughter into the household, I know that this transition may still be a difficult one for him and want to relish in the time that I have with just the two of us.

Lately I haven’t really been feeling inspired to write or create for that matter since the third trimester pregnancy insomnia as well as the winter blues have officially kicked in. Living in Maine has it’s perks if you are a fan of winter. There is always an abundance of cold weather and snow. Personally, I am not a huge fan of the snow or cold so while I try to get out and do things for my own sanity as well as my 6 year old’s, I prefer to stay home. We did manage to get out last weekend and try out ice skating at an ice rink in Portland with a friend and her two children. The kids had a lot of fun and I learned that my child is actually pretty fearless.

Typically I enjoy sewing and creating quilts, bibs and headbands for babies but my lack of energy has pushed that to the back burner. Hopefully this month I can reinvigorate my creativity and begin to write and sew more which is one of my goals for this month. Maybe complete some unfinished projects that have been sitting around begging to be finished especially while I have the time now. In just a couple short months that will all change and I’ll continue to try to balance being a mom, a girlfriend and a nurse with another little one in tow!
